Coming Home

I didn't visit the Vietnam wall until about five years ago. I couldn't go until I was ready. I was struck by the number of relics left there.  These boots and this flag were especially poignant. So I thought I would post them today.  For the friends I lost back then. And the friends I have now in Iraq and Afghanistan. Stay safe.

I saw the wall too, and it really touched me hard. I lost friends in that war, and the men who came back were treated so badly for fighting for our freedoms. That picture is a good representation of things to see there. So sad.

I think these boots belong to a vet who left them at the wall as a way to come full circle. Rather than the boots of someone who died. If so, leaving them was his way of joining his fallen comrades.  Everything left at the wall is collected, saved, and recorded.  Maybe someday there will be a museum.  You never know.  Mrs. L

When i was old enough to have questions (which was real soon i can tell ya) i always went to my mother the font of all knowledge for the truth and one of those questions was about vietnam .She filled in the gaps that text books can never fill and told me how so many young people died and how the ones who came home sometimes wished they hadnt , the treatment many received on thier return was inexcusable , the affect it had on familys is still apparent today in thier memorys and fears , today im taking a moment to think about them all.....and to think about the people who are all around the world today far from home and loved ones once again putting thier lives at risk in the forces for us x

I visited the wall when I was six months pregnant with my second child. The emotional impact hit me like a ton of granite.
