Patricks' Saturday Six -- Middle of Summer Edition

1. What was your favorite childhood movie?  When was the last time you saw it?

I didn't have a lot of favorite movies when I was a kid.  I was taken out of the Wizard of Oz screaming because the Wicked Witch of the West scared me so much.  But so did all the brooms in Fantasia.  I remember liking Song of the South, but when I saw it again as an adult, I couldn't believe how racist it was. There was a movie with Frank Sinatra I remember liking.  He sang a song called Abba Dadda Honeymoon.

Abba Dadda Dabba Dabba Abba Dabba Dabba Dabba Said the Monkey to the Chimp is how it started out.  I don't remember the rest.  Well, I remember the Abba Dabba parts, but not the other words.

The last time I saw that movie was when it was in the movie theaters in 1952.

2. Who is your worst enemy at the moment?  (First names only, please.)  Why is that person your enemy?

I have ALWAYS been my own worst enemy.  I can't blame anyone by myself for any predicament I have ever found myself in. I have contemplated my navel on the issue for many years. I'll let you know if I ever come up with any answers.

3. Which one of the following annoys you most when you encounter a new blog?

   a. Constant grammatical errors.
   b. Constant spelling errors.
   c. Contrived "street" language.
   d. Too many "nothing happening today" entries.

Lots of grammar and spelling errors annoy me a lot. Probably because they are my biggest problems too.

Elves and faeries are like nails on a blackboard. My main requirement for reading other journals is make me laugh or make me think. Otherwise I'm out.

4 Take this quiz:   Which alcoholic drink are you?

I am Kahlua and cream.  I wanted to say I was a "big cab," but that conjured up a large yellow taxi and I didn't want to go there. Oh, wait, this is one of those quizes you have to link to.  I'll be back.

According to the quiz I'm a shot of vodka.  Or do people need a shot of vodka to be with me?  That wasn't clear.

5. What is the last thing you said to a person face to face?  Who was that person?

"Hey, I'm going to the ladies room to put on some make up so I look nice for the drive home."  I said it to the last person left at the production house where I was working.

6. READER'S CHOICE QUESTION #59 from Debi:  When you shower, do you ever think of the Alfred Hitchcock movie, "Psycho?"

I never think about the shower scene in PSYCHO anymore because since that movie I always lock the bathroom door when I'm going to take a shower.

I hated the witch, but also, I didn't like Judy Garland as Dorothy...to me, she looked too grown-up to be a kid...she had breasts for chrissake!

I loved the song Abba Dabba Honeymoon, too.  I don't remember ever hearing Sinatra sing it, but Debbie Reynolds sang it in Singing In the Rain.  Here are the lyrics: Abba dabba dabba dabba dabba dabba dabba, said the monkey to the chimp. Abba dabba dabba dabba dabba dabba dabba said the chimpee to the monk...all night long they chattered away...all day long they were happy and gay...swinging and swaying in a honky, tonky way...Abba dabba dabba dabba dabba dabba dabba said the chimp, I love but you...Abba dabba dabba in monkey talk means Chimp, I love you too...Then the ol' babboon, one night in June, he married them both and very soon, they sailed away on an abba dabba honeymoon.

I remember seeing Funny Girl at the drive-in as a child. Go figure. Flipper and Miracle on 34th Street were also favorites.

Wasn't that Abba dabba business in The Jungle Book? I seem to remember a singing orangutan.

Yes, we lock the bathroom door. But do you know who's in the attic?

You know I think you're right.  And the frank Sinatra movie was Two Weeks With Love and the song was High Hopes. Maybe.  Mrs. L

I couldn't watch the Wizard of Oz until I was in high school, lol, I was so afraid of the witch and the monkeys.  Same for Fantasia, those brooms made me hide under my seat.
I remember the Abba Dabba song.  Don't remember the movie right off the top of my head, but my Mom used to sing it to me.

And btw, why shouldn't you be a shot of vodka?  Cool, clear, with a kick.  :)

Abba dabba song was deffo in " Two weeks with love " ....i remember my gran singing along to it on one of our numerous sundays watching old movies together when i was a kid...Debbie Reynolds had the hit with it and in her autobiography (now that was a crazy read ) i remember something about her buying a pool for her parents with her first big cheque with "abba dabba honeymoon " inlaid on the tiles !
My fav childhood movie wasnt the usual disney fare .....i grew up watching old movies my gran and mum loved so instead of disney i got  james cagney , bette davis , and joan crawford dramas , cooky fun feel goods with doris day , biblical epics like the robe and the greatest story ever told , and my fav musicals .....every kind going .....if i had to pick one it would be carousel x
